Just be zen about it ~ New painting by Rita Loyd

"Just be zen about it" byRita Loyd © 2013

The inspiration for this painting was that I had been searching for ways to cope with the difficulties and pain of helping care for my mom with Alzheimer’s and it was buddhist philosophy that helped me the most. My new motto is – Just be zen about it. Here are some of the reasons why I like buddhist philosophy even though I am not a buddhist.

It reminds me to stay in the moment.
It reminds me to be compassionate with others.
It reminds me to slow down.
It reminds me to go with the flow of life.
It reminds me to recognise disturbing thoughts in my head as only mind chatter.
It reminds me to be honest with myself and to not run away from how I feel but to examine what I feel with compassion.
It reminds me to breath.
It reminds me to be mindful of my surroundings.
It reminds me to make conscious decisions.
It reminds me to seek answers from within.
It reminds me to live life simply.
It reminds me that we create our own suffering.
And, It teaches me the potencial power of the human mind.
